SUB-FRAME MOUNTINGS Front Mounting Replacement
Replacement of the sub-frame front mounting involves removal of the radius arm to gain access to the support pin nut at the sub-frame front member Once the radius arm is removed, remove the locknut and washer from the inner end of the support pin. This will normally be hidden under caked mud and dirt which will have to be scraped away. Remove the two bolts securing the mounting trunnion block to the body, then lever the sub-frame downwards away from the body and extract the trunnion assembly. Withdraw the support pin from the trunnion and remove the bushes.
Assemble the trunnion with new bushes and refit it in the reverse order of removing. Note that the step in the trunnion block and the short bolt are at the top.
Rear Mounting Replacement Replacement of the rear mounting is quite straight forward after jacking up the car and removing the road wheel. The mounting trunnion block is secured to the mounting pin on the sub-frame by a self-locking nut and washer and to the body by two bolts and nuts, or merely two bolts on Estate, Van and Pick-up models . lever the sub-frame away from the body and detach the trunnion assembly. Extract the bushes and fit new ones.
Assemble the trunnion to the sub-frame and body in the reverse order of removing. Note that the step on the trunnion and the short screw are at the front.
