WIPERS & WASHERS

Wiper Blades The wiping speeds, intermittent wipe action (if fitted) and park position of the wiper blades as well as the condition of the blades and rubbers should be checked periodically. Blades which are contaminated with insect or oil deposits should be removed and cleaned with a hard brush and detergent solution. Worn blades will cause streaks and unsatisfactory cleaning of the glass. The wiping edge of the blades must not be perished or tom. Wear of the blades will increase under conditions of dust, air pollution and when used on a frozen or dry screen. New blades should be fitted at least once a year according to condition. The wiper blade is a straight push-fit type and is secured in position by two locating dimples on the arm. To remove the blade, depress the spring lever on the underside of the blade to disengage the lower locating dimple. Tilt the blade assembly outwards away from the arm to disengage the upper locating peg and pull the blad6 up and off the arm. Push the new blade onto the arm until the locating peg and dimple engage in their locations. Check the operation of the wipers after fitting new blades.

Washers

The windscreen washer reservoir is located in the engine compartment, and the level should be checked regularly and topped up as required. The addition of a proprietary brand of windscreen washer additive is recommended to ensure quick and efficient cleaning of the windscreen. In winter, the addition of up to 25% methylated spirits will prevent the washer fluid from freezing.
